Institutional Programs

Kroll's institutional programs are available to any public or private organization, entity or group that maintains sensitive personal information (SPI) about its customers, employees, donors, volunteers, students or members — information that could be stolen and used for fraudulent purposes. Designed to fortify data security procedures and establish comprehensive policies and procedures should a breach occur, Kroll's solutions address every phase of the data breach — prevention, preparation and response — including organizational consulting and support, and identity theft investigation and restoration services for individual customers of those organizations.

Kroll has the resources and expertise to handle the extreme organizational and individual demands brought on by a data breach situation, including:

  • Immediate response support for breach containment
  • High-volume notification and support of exposed consumers
  • Restoration to pre-breach status for victims of identity theft
  • Crisis communications and media management

Pre-Breach

Kroll's pre-breach protection services encompass a comprehensive approach that addresses an organization's legal and financial considerations should a breach occur, and ranges from up-front security analysis and consulting regarding security procedures to post breach customer solutions and event investigation after the breach event. The program provides access to a broad scope of Kroll capabilities to help the institution:

  • Guard against the damage of a data security breach
  • Protect the institutions' stakeholders
  • Provide competitive differentiation for improved customer safety, security and support

The program is built on a multi-tiered platform that can be customized to your institution and includes:

  • Pre-Breach Self Audit
Kroll's pre-breach self audit comprises a series of questions with multiple choice answers that C-suite level, human resources, security and compliance officers answer individually — yielding results that the management team may use to determine appropriate next steps

  • Security Consulting and Analysis
Kroll's assessment of the security of an organization's data provides a clear picture of identity information at risk from an objective, third-party expert

  • Response Strategy
Kroll provides a track for sure-footed, fast action. An effective response to a breach minimizes the potential damage in terms of customer exposure, lost productivity, brand confidence, legal compliance and exposure — using proven crisis management and business continuity protocols

  • Individual Identity Theft Investigation and Restoration
If the affected individual feels they may have an identity theft issue, Kroll's licensed investigators are able to do the bulk of the work to help them resolve the problem — and restore the individual's name — as quickly as possible

  • Quarterly Legislative Updates
Kroll will provide quarterly legislative updates regarding identity theft as well as information breaches, to meet the demanding need for awareness of federal and state legislative requirements that may affect the client's organization

Post Breach

Kroll's breach recovery services are available to an organization that has experienced a security breach where sensitive personal information (SPI) has been lost or compromised and sensitive data related to individuals is exposed.

Services provided may include:

  • Notification
Kroll will assume the responsibility of notifying the group of people affected by the organization's breach — delivering information about the event, the solution in place and the benefits available under the program simultaneously

  • Call Center Support
Kroll's skilled customer service team is standing by to handle immediate, potentially high-volume inbound inquiries — providing support for customers just grasping the situation, and taking immediate steps to prevent or minimize damage

  • Credit Report
Affected customers have access to an up-to-date credit report that consolidates information from the three national credit repositories. Kroll investigators are available to help customers as they review the report for signs of potentially fraudulent activity

  • Continuous Credit Monitoring
Customers who enroll for credit monitoring service through Experian will be alerted should the file subsequently reflect activity commonly associated with identity theft

  • Individual Identity Theft Investigation and Restoration
If the affected individual believes there may be an identity theft issue, Kroll's licensed investigators are able to do the bulk of the work to help resolve the problem — and restore the individual's name — as quickly as possible

  • Non-Credit Searches
Identity theft is not limited to credit-related schemes. When helping an identity theft victim, the Kroll investigator is also able to search for outlying activity the customer may not be aware of such as criminal exploits in their name, an unknown address affiliated with their Social Security Number or banking activity in their name reported as fraudulent
