Kroll market entry analysis saves costs
Kroll was asked by an auto-parts manufacturer to advise on its planned plant relocation and its market expansion strategy. Kroll completed a thorough analysis of the competitive, regulatory and macro-economic environments across four countries and benchmarked them against the clients existing location. Kroll advised the client to enter a joint venture with an existing supplier in the region rather than opening a new facility. Within 12 months this investment had yielded expanded revenue and saved the client millions of dollars.
Kroll evaluates foreign direct investment for Asian bank
An Asian bank sought to expand its project finance profile with a $1 billion loan to a natural resource firm with a significant project in an emerging market. Apart from concerns about the borrower’s reputation and how this might constrict their ability to syndicate the loan, the borrower was also concerned about the government’s attitude to foreign direct investment.
Kroll found that while the borrower’s past would not restrict the client’s options, the domestic political environment in the borrower’s country was evolving quickly to a far more hostile position than the lender had anticipated.
