Kroll Featured in Boston Business Journal Discussing Compliance in the Cannabis Industry

As the pioneering industry of cannabis emerges, so too do the issues of regulation within the industry. Mariellen Davies-DeMarco, Managing Director in the Compliance Risk and Diligence practice and Daniel Linskey, Managing Director in the Security Risk Management practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, co-authored an article in Boston Business Journal on the importance of compliance in the cannabis industry. 

In the article, “Op-ed: Mass. cannabis industry must go beyond compliance standard,” Daniel and Mariellen highlight the necessity of instilling proper conduct from the inception of a cannabis company. “Cannabis businesses need to make sure compliance isn’t an operation box to be ticked, but rather a crucial component of their DNA. Not only do these companies have to consider the safety of their employees and customers, but also the footprint they are leaving behind as the industry continues to grow. In short, the cannabis industry can’t be satisfied with meeting standards; it needs to set the standards.”
