Banking Investigation Ukraine - PrivatBank

Kroll was appointed by the National Bank of Ukraine to investigate whether wrongdoing or banking malpractice took place at Ukraine’s largest bank, PrivatBank before its nationalisation. The bank had to be nationalised and recapitalised with state funds in December 2016 after a $5.5bn shortfall was identified in its finances.

Kroll deployed an expert team to collect and analyse data relating to PrivatBank’s operations during the ten-year period to December 2016. Kroll presented its findings to National Bank of Ukraine (“NBU”) in January 2018. The detail of these findings remain strictly confidential pending ongoing legal proceedings, however the NBU has published its summary of the findings on the NBU website.
