Having worked at director level with leading international project management firms and design-and-build contractors, he has extensive experience acting for both client and contractor entities in the delivery of large-scale, complex and high-value construction and engineering projects.
Prior to joining Kroll, Austin was a partner at Blackrock Expert Services, which was acquired by Kroll in 2020.
Austin’s experience spans the healthcare, commercial, residential, industrial, retail, leisure, education, technology, renewable energy and power, mining, process, pharmaceutical, oil and gas and civil engineering sectors.
He has served as an independent expert on project management and construction management performance/negligence matters, and as an expert on programming, delay, disruption and acceleration issues over 80 times. He has submitted written evidence in conciliation, mediation, adjudication, litigation and international arbitration proceedings. Austin has testified on numerous occasions, including the provision of concurrent evidence (or “hot-tubbing”), in arbitrations under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).
Austin is regularly retained by both private- and public-sector clients to provide strategic development and project management advice and program management advisory services on major capital investment programs.
