John specializes in the valuation of businesses, debt and equity securities and intangible assets for a variety of purposes. John advises publicly traded and closely held businesses as well as individuals on valuation matters in the areas of gift and estate tax, corporate tax, financial reporting, litigation and dispute resolution, corporate reorganizations and recapitalizations.
John has served clients in a broad range of industries, including asset management, professional services, specialty retail, manufacturing, banking and financial services, apparel/footwear, recreational products, and basic industries. He performs valuation analyses involving complex capital structures and complex ownership structures. He regularly assists in the defense of valuation analyses before the Internal Revenue Service and other regulators.
Prior to joining Kroll (formerly Duff & Phelps) in 1999, John was a manager in the Financial Valuation Services practice of Arthur Andersen. John received an M.B.A in finance and a B.A. in history, with highest distinction, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago, and the Business Valuation Association.
