Director

Jonathan Li is a director in the Restructuring practice, based in Hong Kong. Jonathan has over 10 years of experience in court liquidations, receiverships, financial and operational restructurings, voluntary liquidations, individual bankruptcies, preparation of Form E, Duxbury calculations and expert reports in divorce proceedings, valuation and investigation of matrimonial assets and judicial management in Singapore.

Jonathan’s assignments relate to various industries in Hong Kong, the PRC, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands, including medical, media, property investment and development, energy, coal mining, food and beverage, lifestyle fashion apparel, dairy, traditional and digital animation, software retailing, hotels and manufacturing.

His recent work includes the liquidation of a Cayman Islands-incorporated, Hong Kong-listed company (engaging in medical services and in the manufacture and sale of Chinese medicines in the PRC) involving litigation and professional negligence claims. Jonathan has also managed the receivership over a luxury residential property in Hong Kong and substantial amount of shares in an NYSE-listed company as a result of a loan default by a Hong Kong-listed real estate developer. He has overseen the liquidation of a food and beverage company with 200 restaurants in Vietnam involving funds flow tracing work and criminal claims and the receivership and operational restructuring of a financially distressed and private equity-owned, Beijing-based luxury restaurant operator with around 60 restaurants in 16 cities across the PRC.

Jonathan is an Appointment Taker and an Insolvency Practitioner with the Official Receiver’s Office in Hong Kong. He is a Certified Public Accountant from CPA Australia and is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). He is a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Faculty of the HKICPA and was awarded the specialist qualification in Insolvency (SQ, Insolvency) by the HKICPA in 2016. Jonathan also holds a Master of Financial Analysis and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Jonathan is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
