Yoni leverages a decade of experience handling bet-the-company structured finance and complex commercial litigation, white-collar defense, and internal investigations, as well as advising financial-industry clients on investment and operational risks. He also has extensive experience managing massive vendor projects for clients with budgets over $25 million.
At Kroll, Yoni focuses on special regulatory projects for private equity, private credit, real estate and hedge fund clients. His responsibilities also include guiding through SEC exams, conducting mock SEC exams, performing regulatory due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, advising on complex regulatory and compliance questions, as well as providing expert witness services.
Prior to joining Kroll, Yoni served as an associate at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, where he spent six years preparing experts and executives for examination at trial, deposition or by regulators; analyzing complex financial structures, instruments and agreements; and advising clients on time-pressured, novel and high-stakes situations and laws, including companies facing liquidation and executives facing imprisonment. He also provided data privacy and cybersecurity advice on compliance with laws and regulations, as well as investigated data breaches and performed related due diligence for acquisitions.
Prior to Patterson Belknap, Yoni clerked for two federal judges: Honorable Beverly B. Martin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta and Honorable Kevin McNulty of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. In this role he drafted opinions and memos for the judges on civil and criminal matters, including on issues ultimately decided by the United States Supreme Court.
Yoni holds a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He also holds a B.S. in finance, summa cum laude, and a B.A. in philosophy, summa cum laude, from the University of Maryland. In addition, Yoni is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Additionally, he is a member of the New York bar.
