Michael is a Chartered Accountant and a licenced Insolvency Practitioner in Dubai (DIFC) and Abu Dhabi (ADGM). He has been appointed on several liquidation engagements in the DIFC and ADGM. He was the first Insolvency Practitioner to be licensed in the ADGM and also helped to create the ADGM’s insolvency rules and regulations.
Michael has led and managed complex debt restructurings and turnarounds, liquidations and receiverships, and provided practical and commercial solutions to key stakeholders.
Prior to joining Kroll, Michael worked for two leading law firms in the DIFC, where he provided insolvency services, corporate structuring advice and independent directorship services.
Before moving to the UAE, Michael worked for a global asset manager in Dublin, Ireland, where he managed a non-performing loan portfolio with a gross loan balance of over €1bn.
Michael trained as a Chartered Accountant with PwC for five years in the UK and Ireland. He provided audit and assurance services to private equity firms, retail banks and hedge funds.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Dublin, Ireland. He is a Chartered Accountant registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Michael is a Financial Restructuring Committee (FRC) Financial Restructuring Expert registered with the UAE Ministry of Finance. Additionally, he is a Qualified Financial Advisor registered with the Institute of Bankers in Ireland.
