He has also practiced as a quantity surveyor in Australia. Michael’s extensive construction experience includes a range of projects, including hotels, hospitals, serviced apartments, mixed-use towers, office buildings, public infrastructure, road infrastructure, marine infrastructure, port facilities and mining processing facilities.
Prior to joining Kroll, Michael was a managing consultant at Blackrock Expert Services, which was acquired by Kroll in 2020.
Before working in the expert field, Michael was primarily involved in the commercial delivery of construction projects. This entailed contract administration, commercial management, cost planning, financial reporting, procurement, risk management, change management and claims preparation. He has experience working for both client and contractor, enabling an objective understanding of disputes.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying from Sheffield Hallam University and an LLM in construction law and arbitration from Robert Gordon University. He has also obtained a PGDip in construction adjudication and an expert witness certification from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Michael is a longstanding chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, for which he sits on the local UAE branch committee.
