Mike has performed valuation services for purposes such as tax planning, consideration of acquisition and divestiture, shareholder buyouts, allocation of purchase price, impairment testing and property tax, and has experience in valuing businesses across a variety of industries, including food processing, personal care products, aggregates, automotive parts, forestry products, chemicals, pension consulting services and many others. He has also valued several different types of intangibles assets including trademarks, customer contracts and relationships, non-competition agreements and proprietary technology.
Prior to joining Kroll, Mike served as an investment analyst and corporate controller and advisor to a Canadian mutual fund manager. In that role, he was responsible for preparing reports on individual companies held in their “Mid-Cap” and “Small Company” funds. He also conducted investment manager searches for Canadian, U.S. and international equity mandates.
Mike received a B.A. in economics and politics from the University of Toronto and holds an MBA from York University. He is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and a chartered business valuator (CBV).
