Managing Director

Daniel Linskey is a managing director in the Enterprise Security Risk Management practice, based in Boston. In addition, Daniel serves in the Forensic Investigations and Intelligence practice and leads the Global Law Enforcement Consulting practice. Dan leverages decades of experience in investigations, crisis response and risk management, as well as personal, physical and operational security strategies.

Prior to joining Kroll, Dan served as the Superintendent-in-Chief at the Boston Police Department (BPD) for 28 years and established a national and international reputation for crisis response, crisis planning and large-scale event security planning. He provided strong leadership through some of the most tragic and contentious events in the city’s history, including the Occupy Movement and the Boston Marathon bombing attacks, where he was overseeing the response and the investigation. Under Dan's leadership, the BPD's handling of the Occupy Movement in 2011 has been lauded as one of the best-managed responses to the protests of any city in the country.

Dan led a team that developed and implemented regional multidisciplined, realistic training exercises “Urban Shield: Boston.” He rose through the ranks in various assignments during triumph and tragedy always working as a member of, developing, or leading highly effective teams and units. He worked to re-engineer police and community relations while reducing crime, and developed programs that got cops to engage with the public at parks, schools and in community centres. He is also a leading law enforcement trainer and an expert on financial crime and fraud investigations, helping clients identify and recover tens of millions of dollars stolen as the result of criminal fraud.

Upon retiring from the BPD, Dan founded the Linskey Group. In this role, he provided clients with security, law enforcement and emergency management services, including dignitary protection, cybersecurity and confidential investigations, as well as incident reviews and training exercises designed to prepare agencies and facilities for crisis.

Dan is active in several professional organizations and is frequently asked to present at conferences and meetings on topics related to law enforcement and homeland security. He is also a prolific writer and a highly sought-after motivational speaker, whose insights and thought leadership are closely followed by law enforcement, security professionals and civic leaders.

Dan is a three-time recipient of Boston Police Medal of Honor and has also been awarded the American Legion Medal of Valor, the State of Massachusetts George L. Hanna Medal of Honor and The Semper Fidelis Society Marine of the Year Award for his exemplary service with the BPD.

Dan is associated with FBI National Academy, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Emergency Managers, Massachusetts Major Cities Chiefs’ Association, Police Executive Research Forum, ASIS International and the Security Industry Association, and IAFCI International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.
