High-Stakes Litigation Involving Smart Car Intellectual Property
A smart car startup was being sued for theft of intellectual property by the executive team’s previous employers. The case was unique in that every device in the organization needed to be collected and analyzed to determine which machines and custodians (if any) had access to the previous organization’s intellectual property.
Kroll Delivered
- Kroll forensically imaged 230 hard drives over a 48 hour period.
- We extracted user generated data from all devices 10 TB of data and processed it into a Relativity® workspace that deduplicated down to approximately 2 TB.
- Both structured analytics operations (such as email threading) and conceptual analytics indexes were utilized to perform document clustering and concept searching.
Large-Scale Review of Personally Identifiable Information
A bank needed to review over 20 TB of information that was accessed by an unauthorized party for any potential exposure of personally identifiable information (PII).
Kroll Delivered
- Processing and review of data was batched and prioritized to yield the largest number of data subjects quickest, so that processing, review and notification could run in parallel in waves.
- The client was able to notify only those customers whose personal information was verifiably compromised in the attack, significantly decreasing costs as well as mitigating the scope of the incident.
